Pediatric Therapist

Colleen, a Philadelphia native, was driven to pursue a career in speech-language pathology by her values of communication and human connection. While attending graduate school at La Salle University in Philadelphia, it became evident she was meant to work with children. Prior to relocating to Denver, CO, Colleen worked as a speech-language pathologist in preschools and the public school system in the Philadelphia area and surrounding suburbs for two years. Heeding the call from the mountains, Colleen moved to Colorado in June 2016 and joined the team of therapists at Children’s Therapy Services of Colorado.

Colleen has experience working with children on the autism spectrum and those with significant communication and developmental delays. Colleen has also worked with kids with articulation disorders, apraxia, cleft palate, expressive and receptive language delays, processing disorders, children with ADD/ADHD, and children with behavioral challenges. With training in Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and experience with high and low tech augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, including basic sign language, Colleen works to establish functional communication systems for all her clients. She enjoys collaborating with families to help little ones become successful communicators and connect with their loved ones.  Colleen takes the time to understand each child and their unique interests and needs to provide individualized therapy.  Colleen also works closely with interpreters and is comfortable completing evaluations or providing therapy with an interpreter of any language. Furthermore, Colleen is a certified yoga teacher and has completed a children’s yoga training with Lani Rosen-Gallagher. She works to incorporate movement, mindfulness, and breathing strategies into her therapy sessions to increase focus, attention, and readiness to learn.
